Abdul Rahman Abdel Razek holds a bachelor’s degree in Robotics and Mechatronics from the Arab Academy for Science & Technology in Cairo, Egypt, in 2009, after which he worked as a maintenance engineer at MOBICA Integrated Industries and as an operations engineer at Coca-Cola Company in Cairo, Egypt. To further develop his management skills, he completed a master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Business Consulting at Furtwangen University in Germany in 2013. He started working for the Department of Industrial Engineering at Furtwangen University as a Service engineering Laboratory Manager to help set up a new department of Service Engineering. Since 2016, he has worked in engineering research and development at the Smart Service Competence Center, funded by the Ministry of Education and Research Baden-Württemberg, at Furtwangen University. Concurrently he was doing a Ph.D. in Engineering at the Arts et métiers in Anger, in cooperation with the Laval Virtual Center in Laval, France, and the Furtwangen University in Germany. In 2020 he obtained his Ph.D. in Engineering (Dr.-Ing.) specializing in the immersive application of service prototyping on industrial service use cases. He published numerous papers in renowned conferences such as ICE IEEE, IAMOT, ICServ, and Laval Virtual VRIC and multiple book chapters at famous publishers. He is currently one of the board members of the International Conference on Engineering, Technology, and Innovation Conference. He specializes in engineering research, and service prototyping, particularly service prototyping methods, immersive experiences, and industrial applications of extended reality, which he has worked on extensively since 2013—currently managing 6 different funded research projects at FARO Technologies on the national and EU level. These projects' core topics include AI in construction, AI in production, 5G communications, sustainable energy technologies, and construction sustainability processes.
