Carlos Gómez Palacín received the B.Sc. in Computer Science and then M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering, both by Universidad de Valladolid (Spain). Then, he worked in the automation department in a food-industry (Nestlé) and later became the head of the electronic and after-sales departments in a SME (Celiber) in Illescas (Toledo). After that, he returned to the academic environment and received the Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering in 2020, focusing his studies mainly in optimal operation, system coordination and decision support for the process industry, i.e. handling large-scale problems. Now he is a project engineering in the department of Industrial Digital Transformation in Sonae Arauco SA, managing the development and deployment of new technologies and systems that will carry the factories of the company to the desired Industry 4.0 aim.
